Reliance Communications, the largest CDMA operator in the country all set to launch its GSM service nationwide. With this launch the mobile sector is sure witness some intense competition amongst GSM operators.
Until now Reliance Mobile offered GSM services under its Smart GSM brand in eight circles, which included Kolkata,
West Bengal and Assam.
The current GSM service launch will cover 24,000 towns and 600,000 villages,
making it the widest one-time launch. Reliance had received the start-up GSM
spectrum for the remaining 18 circles in January 2008 and within a span of 11 months,
has managed to set up the required infrastructure.
Reliance claims that unlike the aging mobile networks prevalent today, its new age GSM service brings a number of innovations which include, next-gen electronics for super digital voice clarity, seamless coverage on major railway routes, national and state highways and nationwide enhanced EDGE for fastest internet access speeds.
With this launch Reliance will be the only private player to offer both CDMA as well as GSM services across the country. Reliance's GSM customers will be able to use a wide range of GSM handsets and can also avail of international roaming in more than 200 countries.

Its waste to rely on reliance service.its very frustrating. They always cut service for some reason or other. Their service is not at par with the other players in the field. I am languishing by taking Reliance Smart sim in Kolkata.

If i purchase GSM SIM then you pay daily 10 Rs or 4 Rs if Fist Recharge is Rs 60. actualy, in Roorkee there is recharge Sim Cost is 110, Rs 50 for SIM and Rs 60 for FRC.
Currently you cannot shift from CDMA to GSM or from one operator to another and retain the same mobile number, however this could be possible in the near future when number portability is introduced in India.

I booked 2 No. Reliance GSM Sim in the name of Anand R. Kulkarni & Angha A. Kulkarni from Relaince Web World, Nirala Bazar, Aurangabad (M) (Phone No. 0240-3042992) on 09.01.2009.
I regulary asked in the office of Reliance Web World & written letter to cusomer care also about not getting the Card.
Yesterday Evening I called to Reliance Web World & that time they told that, you will collect your Sim tomorrow after 10.00 o'clock. Today I reached at 1.18 in the office I asked about the card, but they told that, the timing of taking the form is 10 to 1.00 P.M. & he refused to give the form & Card & also told that the scheme has changed. Daily Rs.10/- talktime Scheme has changed. I told them I booked the Sim at the basis of this Scheme & you have not given the Sim within the period & how you will you not given me this Scheme. Mr. Parvez (the Representative of Reliance Web World) told that, you have booked the Sime not booked the Scheme. Pl. note that, I booked the Sim on the basis of this Scheme & you have not given me the Sim within the period of Scheme.
Pl. look into the matter personally & give the reply within 24 hours. Becuase tomorrow I will also go their before 1 o'clock till them your reply expected to received before that.

there is nothing to do with the normal reliance sim with the smart 1
so call rates wil be same as they wd be if u wil call an idea sim
smart to msart rates are very nice

there's is no relation between smart to normal reliance

i am santosh kumar from bangalore i have taken reliance GSM to make R2R free call from night 11 to morning 6 but i'm not able to make free call its chargable

My bad experience with reliance CDMA service was that they nevr keep there commitments and the customer care is worst.
