Cisco finally launched its range of consumer-centric products yesterday in the CES in Las Vegas. The networking giant made a number of annoucements regarding its products and plans this year. They provided information about their Entertainment Operating System (Eos) software platform for media and entertainment companies, the Cisco Media Hub, the Cisco Device Connections Program, and its Consumer Channel Network.
Cisco Entertainment Operating System (Eos) Eos is a "white-label" software platform that allows media and entertainment companies to create, manage and grow online communities around their content. Cisco Eos is supposed to provide a powerful, integrated platform that brings together social networking, content management and site administration features into a single operating environment, allowing content owners to deliver immersive consumer experiences -- increasing revenue opportunities and reducing operational costs. Cisco disclosed that the Warner Music Group is the first entertainment company to use the Cisco Eos platform for artist sites like Laura Izibor (www.lauraizibor.com) and Sean Paul (www.allseanpaul.com).

Cisco Media Hub Labeled as "Linksys by Cisco Media Hub" the Media Hub gathers, organizes, and presents all the digital video, photos and music that users have spread amongst various devices in the home -- simplifying access to and interaction with digital content. Cisco Device Connections Program (Cisco DCP) Cisco DCP is a program which enables manufacturers to use the Home Network Administration Protocol (HNAP) in a variety of network connected devices. HNAP supposedly enables a simple, secure and open approach for devices to be set up and configured with other HNAP-enabled "networkable devices" on a home network. In an effort to make connected home products easier to use and set-up in a home network, it is making its HNAP technology available to manufactures without any licensing fees.
Cisco Consumer Channel Network (Cisco CCN) Currently, the Cisco CCN is a channel initiative in the United States and Canada for resellers that cater to customers in the home and small office/home office (SOHO) market space. Cisco CCN is part of Cisco's Channel Partner Program which will provide resellers with resources, tools and training for selling the Linksys by Cisco product line of Connected Home Products.
